5. New Business.
A. Correspondence.
- Alan reported the reception of the minutes of the Cosco Delegates' Meeting, a letter from the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House for Seniors, one from the BCIT Foundation and one from the CPP Board of Trustees in response to our letter.
- With the Foundation feeling the effects of the financial crisis, an increase in our donation was discussed. It was suggested to also make a contribution directed to education in a developing country.
B. Reports
- Bob being absent, Alan gave the report. He answered questions and pointed out that under Other Income the amount of $40.00 was a donation from Ed.
- 2. Benefits and Liaison, COSCO
- The report was not available.
- Ted Scratchley had taken a close look at the ferry schedule to Bowen Island, at the days to choose and at what time to sail.
After some discussion it was decided to schedule the trip for June 30, taking the 10:00 ferry.
- Murray has done the legwork for the arranging of the 2009 wine tour.
It will be held on June 19. The cost will be $2.00 per person and the fun shall begin at The Fortwine Co. at 10:45.
- Chris has been busy with the questionnaire handed out at the Hazelmere luncheon. Minter Gardens and the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden were popular choices.
The visit to Minter Gardens is planned for August 10 at 10:30; participants are to meet in the parking lot.
- It is the turn of the Classical Chinese Garden on July 15 at 10:00.
- At the luncheon we had 51 diners. The fifty-fifty took in $42.50.
- As for the questionnaire, little support was shown for any cruise, while there was good support for Minter Gardens and Cheers. It was decided to have the Christmas Luncheon (the Warkentin Luncheon), on December 8 at 11:30 in a larger private room at a cost of $22.00 per person.
- The suggestion was made to mail bulletins to the members during the year to improve communications. Also, to let the campus and future members know of our existence and activities and to make use of the Institute's Lotus Notes. Obviously, better use could be made of our own Web Page too.
- Chris and Alan will be writing a bulletin listing the planned activities.
- 4. Membership, Recruitment, Recognition and Support
- According to Chris we have 181 paid members.
- 5. Communications (Web Page)
